1. Background
The Planning Authority has been guided by Government to initiate the process for a local plan review for the site of the former Umberto Calosso school in Santa Venera.
The proposed review which will amend Policy SV02 and Map SVM 1 of the Central Malta Local Plan (2006) will seek to address the increased requirement for additional office space in a key and central location. The Authority is publishing, for public consultation, the proposed objectives which will guide the formulation of the reviewed policies.
The proposed objectives include:
- Designating the site as an office hub for public administration and deleting the requirement for a Development Brief;
- To set out a policy framework which establishes development parameters for the site which may include, built site coverage, height of buildings, requirement for landscaping, access and parking provision, architectural and urban design;
- Identify mitigation measures to minimise any adverse environmental impacts;
- Protecting and enhancing the general environment of the context of the site.
